When using the SWMM website, information on the visit is generated. The SWMM uses web cookies, which are small text files stored on the visitor’s computer. The SWMM website uses these cookies for two reasons: To gather general information on the use of the website and to identify registered students when they log onto the system.
The SWMM uses Google Analytics for measuring visits to the website. During each visit several data items are collected, including time and date of visit, search term used (if applicable), redirect (which website the visit came from), browser type and operating system. This information can be used for improving the website and its general development, for example by assessing which materials are most accessed by students. When a student registers in the SWMM system, information will be collected about the student in regards to his or her progress in the course. This information is not distributed to any outside parties, except for legally mandated obligations to official inspection parties.
The SWMM website uses SSL encryption-based authentication protocol which means that any communications with the website passes through an encrypted layer, ensuring safe data communications. The SSL authentication prevents unscrupulous parties from acquiring data passing through the website, such as passwords. The SSL certification ensures encryption and safety of all data traffic between service supplier and clients.
